Moved by the love of God in Christ and the desire to love our neighbors, we exist simply to feed hungry people. We are a non-denominational, non-profit Christian organization that opens its doors to all who come with no questions asked.
Why
“Sharing Bread”?
“Jesus said to them, ‘I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.” John 6:35
We exist to not only provide physical sustenance, but to share the love of Christ with everyone who walks through our doors, and through that hope to provide spiritual and emotional sustenance as well. We know firsthand how big of an impact a relationship with Jesus can make on every aspect of life. Though a fresh meal solves one problem temporarily, Jesus solves all problems for eternity, and we want every individual to be able to experience that!

What do we do?
We feed hungry people...no questions asked.
Our mission is to demonstrate the love of Christ by providing meals to the hungry of our community. We seek to treat each guest as if he or she were Christ Himself. Our ultimate aim is to facilitate within our guests a genuine encounter with Christ.
We serve daily meals at our facility and we also provide breakfast/lunch bags to the individuals staying at our local overnight shelter.
Our History
Since 1987 we've been able to say as a community..."No-one among us needs to go to bed hungry."
The Soup Kitchen began in 1987 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd, MN. It soon evolved into a ministry of the wider community of the Brainerd Lakes Area and eventually moved to its current location near downtown Brainerd at 923 Oak Street. We decided early on that it would be important to treat our guests as though they were Christ Himself, i.e., with dignity and respect. This has been our guiding principle and we have continued in this way ever since.
